97 s10 2.2 timing chain

my timing chain is very loud. it sound loose. is there an ajustment for it or do i need to replace it. or (should i replace it.) and would i need to pull everything off the front of the motor to do it? I have never messed with timing on anything before.

No adjustment on the chain but it does have a tenensioner. FYI if you replace it there is a plug over the cam that has a hole in it. It squirts oil on the chain & gears it should be replaced.
