1/43 Renaissance Ferrari 250 TR59, S/N 0766, LeMans 1960
Trying to get myself back to building again... it has been a while since I finished a model and I thought that building a small scale kit would get me into the right mood. Boy, was I wrong. Renaissance kits are far from perfect, and it seems this one was the worst of them all! Won't go into detail, just be warned if you ever decided to build this one....it'll try your patience!
The subject is Ferrari 250 TR59, S/N 0766, that took 2nd place in 24 hrs or LeMans in 1960 with Pilette/Rodriguez at the wheel under #17. Steering wheel was replaced with scratchbuilt wheel (stock was soo thick it looked like a tire!), replaced stock shifter and gate, made hood and trunk straps from leather, added few bits here and there but mostly box-stock.

Regardless of the issues you've had with this kit it's still a beautifully built model.

Beautiful job! Just one thing: could the little door on the front fender (what's it for?) be treated to some panel line detail? From the photo it looks lost in clear coat.

Stunning result Alex!
Was the kit steering wheel that bad? that made me laugh! You've done well to finish it considering you haven't been in the mood to model. I'm still stuck in that mood myself and I think even putting the simplest of Tamiya kits together would try my patience. I'll get those F40 wheels to you someday

It's hard to get 1/43 to not be easily identifiable as 1/43. Your excellent build and good photography have accomplished that.

What a beautiful work! I can image how difficult it could be to make a lousy kit end up like this, you get pretty exhausted! Your flawless paintworks and preciseness of the assembly and neatness of all the details really add some extraordinary weight to the models, makes them so real no matter what scale. So buddy, this cheering up project, did it work?
