Ordering replacement Tamiya parts

Hey has anyone ordered replacement parts from Tamiya. I wan to order another set of the optional nismo wheels that came with the Nissan Skyline GTR34 Vespec 2 and two sets of the tyres that go with them. Do you know any of the prices of these items or, generally do you know if ordering another set of tamiya wheels and tyres will cost much. How much?

Hope someone can help me

Also has anyone done homemade decals using decal paper. As i want to print out those tuner ones that got posted here a few days ago. Are they good if done on laser printer at a photocopier/colour printer shop. Where can you buy decal paper from apart form www.decal-paper.com..........at stationary shops??

I placed an order from them just this week. I called Tamiya's U.S. customer service number and they were very helpful, this was the situation:

The parts I needed were for a kit I purchased at a hobby show and did not notice an entire parts tree was missing. It was the tree with all the clear parts, so I needed it if I ever wanted to build the kit.

I called Tamiya and they explained that the "parts" they have in stock are from returned/damaged kits. So the availability of any particular part is simply by chance. They had the parts tree I needed, cost was $3.80 and shipping was $4.00.

I felt pretty lucky to have found what I needed, not sure about the situation in your country or for your particular needs. They do request that you have kit and part numbers when you call.

As an added bonus I now know the "correct" way to pronounce "Tamiya" here in the U.S. Sounds crazy but I've heard it pronounced about 20 different ways...

Hope this helped!

Rick - same story I had with customer service at Tamiya. The only problem was that they did not have any part from a returned 350Z. I had a damaged body and I wanted to purchase another.

Great service if they have the kit!

Australia..

I was looking at getting another set of wheels for the 350Z, but the folks here didn't seem to have any. But, the nice lady told she'd fax Japan and get back to me, but still haven't heard from them. Needless to say the spares are rather expensive!

Hmmm... Maybe we can just buy a new 350Z and split the parts? I need a new chassis...

Just an update on Tamiya America's customer service. The parts I ordered on 5/27 arrived today (Sat. 5/31) via FedEx. That's 4 days after my order and I only paid $4 shipping. The parts tree was packaged very securely in an oversized box. Needless to say it was exactly what I ordered and was in perfect condition.

After seeing the quality of their kits, this experience just solidifies my opinion of Tamiya...they are truly far ahead of all the other model manufacturers.

Just my opinion, your experiences may be different.
