Dangerous Pause while driving

Hello all,
I have a 2001 gmc jimmy with a rebuilt transmission. I have 145K on it now and rebuilt the tranny at about 73K. I will go to take off and sometimes when I press on the gas pedal it goes to the floor and nothing happens! The engine doesn't rev, it deosnt sputter and it doesn't stall, it just keep running like I didnt press the gas pedal. This of course is very scary when you are turning and traffic is coming at you. I usually have to release the gas pedal and press it again and it works. Sometimes it does it while the truck is already moving also. This usually happens in lower gears. Is this my transmission finally starting to take the plunge or something else?

Any applicable trouble codes? Can you get it to act up in your driveway? Work the throttle by hand, when problem occurs, see if it makes any difference? Clean the throttle-body, check tps. Intermittent issues can be a pain to track down. How long since a tune-up? Check fuel pressure.

With intermittent issues, you have to test when problem is ongoing. I realize that is hard to do going down the highway. Any trouble codes? To check yourself, at the least, you need an obd2 code reader. Some of the national brand autostores used to check codes for free.

Re: Dangerous Pause while driving

I changed out the tps, cleared the code and the truck has been running so much better. No more pauses while driving yet, its even shifting in and out of gears better. Hopefully my gas mileage goes back up a little aslo, well see. Thanks for all the help!
