need handbrake lever

Hi
Does anyone have an idea where I can get an handbrake for a grand am 2002 se1? the ratchet mechanism is broken on mine... nobody locally can have it, except the stealership... My online quest seems to indicate a non-existing part!

Re: need handbrake lever

first is the ratchet broken or did it just slip something and not ratchet any more ?
Ive seen the metal spread on this type of hand break and allow the geared piece to not catch but slip instead. might be fixable.

But other than that you are left with the stealershp and fleabay.
Not sure where you're located but you might check rockauto.com sometimes they carry odd parts for cars, worth a look.

Good Hunting!
