Need to tighten Handbrake

Hey all;
Ever since I bought my car, the handbrake has been kinda loose to me. I have to pull it up all the way to the very top for the car to stop rolling when parked. I was wondering if there is a way to make it more "sensitve"? I tried tightening the bolt on the end of the cable at the handbrake in the center console, but I can't get that any tighter than where it's at already. Any help? Thanks.

Thats the only point of adjustment that I know of... The cable isn't stretched is it? I've seen them get stretched out before to the point where you cannot tighten them enough to use it at all.

I have the same problem, but mine is the e-brake part on my caliper. The right side grabs, but the left doesn't. This is obvious with the center console out to where you can see the two brake cables. Not saying your caliper is bad, but just check to see that it grabs on both wheels equally by looking at the two cables where they connect to the main one.

Edit: Do 2g non-turbos use calipers in the back or drums?

david is your car disc brake or drum brake ? if it disc brake use some SS line.

I have disc breaks in the back...so yes to calipers.

Gs all come with disc brake, all rs come with drum brake. I swap my 97 rs drum brake to disc brake in less then 3 hours ( all the part is free )

I have full brakes in the back with calipers. The handbrake is inside the rotor, like a drum brake. The brake lines have nothing to do with the ebrake. It's on its own cable. They grab too. When I cahnged the rotors i had the parking brake applied and I couldnt get them off. Took me a minute to figure out why. HAHA.
