Question about my fuel pump
First off, I am NOT a car guy...Have mercy.
I've noticed here lately when I start my '99 S-10, I have to let the key sit on the ON position for just a moment before I can start my truck. Should I be worried about the fuel pump pressure or possibly having to replace it altogether? I've heard that this can decrease gas mileage so I was slightly concerned. Thanks in advance. Edit: This should have been in the S-10 section |

Re: Question about my fuel pump
You need to do or have a leak down & pressure check. Your fuel pressure should be 60psi it should hold 55 for several minutes. If it drops too quickly you most likely have a fuel leak & that effects mileage.
I just noticed if you check the post on 2001 fuel problem on of the guys gives you a step by step guide for checking pump & leaks. |

Re: Question about my fuel pump
Quote:
Let off on start and starts or let off on nstartb and the kit the start to start. You need 65 lbs cranking pressure for a good cold start Fuel pressure specs are 60/66 on a 4.3 engine. Any check engine lights or flashing check engine light engine running? What pressure do you have?
