I need the right 02 sensor help Please

I have a 1999 Suburban 1/2 ton 4X4 with a 5.7 gas engine. 247,000 miles owned from new and never been tuned up, ie no pluges, wires, ect. I am now triping a P0140 code and need to get it fixed for Californao smog. Where could I find the part number off the 02 sensor? I am going to replace the sensor and plugs and see if the code comes back. I have a cheep code checker and it say the 02 sensor is bad. Read all the posts about 02 sensor and now want to throw the part it on a guess. I want to order it off the net and dont want to get the wrong part. Thanks Dave

Re: I need the right 02 sensor help Please

Go to this site and send them an e-mail with your full VIN. Ask for the part number for Bank 1 Sensor 2. This is the post cat sensor.

I can tell you that you're looking at around $100 from the dealer and $60 from the link below.

Also in the troubleshooting tree for DTC P0140, it goes all the way to step 15 before saying to replace the o2 sensor!!!

Also if you have two post cat sensors you may try swapping them from side to side and clearing the code to see if it stays with the sensor or bank 1.

Good luck.

swap the upstream O2 sensors ..write down the O2 sensor NUMBER..see if the code changes...when removing look at the wire for damage..140 code is usually a damaged wire..could be just too old..

240,ooo mi is far too long on replacing. spark plugs must be way out of proper gap with 240,ooo on them..

replacing the both upstream sensors with the same manufacturer is best ..with this vehicle I would go to the scrap yard and get them !

you could also get the plugs there also ........
