Sluggish electric door lock

The driver's side electric door lock on my '02 Ranger started acting sluggish.
That is, it moves the manual lock peg up/down but doesn't move it as far as it should. The manual lock peg moves freely up/down when I try it.
I figure that if the actuator was bad, it wouldn't move at all. This one clicks but doesn't seem to have enough power to lock/unlock the lock.
Anyone have any experience with these locks/actuators?

Re: Sluggish electric door lock

Thanks, BRCIDD. That's what I figured.
$44 for one at AutoZone. What's the source for a $20 one online?

Re: Sluggish electric door lock

Sorry, I was wrong a high power generic actuator is $8.95 with free shipping on Ebay. Search for door lock actuator

Makes you wonder why anyone would pay the Stealership $200

Re: Sluggish electric door lock

Took the actuator out. Cracked it open and found a dinky little 1 " cube motor driving 4 gears to actuate a lever that unlocks the door. The motor is one like you'd find in a kid's model car....not a slot racer but a plastic model car.
I'm surprised it has lasted this long!!!!
If I had a source for this "science fair" motor, I could fix this actuator....but I found a new actuator online for $13.
