holding my breath

a friend called saying his trans is shot. it's being towed to my place this week, and i dont know/like neon's... he says it sounds like he's driving with his parking brake on, but it's not. syas it's a metal on metal sound. and lots of drag. let off the gas and drags to a quick stop. googel'd it and came up empty handed. any thoughts?

thanks,
aaron

Re: holding my breath

Sounds like the transmission is shot. Is it low on fluid, wrong fluid added? Last time it was flushed? The neon's tranny is built pretty tough and bad or no maintenance will ruin it.
