DPFE Sensor question

I replaced my DPFE sensor and noticed the lines were going from the sensor to the egr valve line seemed way too large. can i use smaller hoses so it is a tighter fit or would that restricted the flow.

Smaller will work just fine ... there is no real "flow", just static pressure.
