How to replace the DPFE sensor

Hi, I have a 99 ford taurus. Now the check engine light comes on. The problem is DPFE sensor (EGR valve pressure sensor). Is this easy to replace it by myself?
Could anyone give me any suggestion or reference book.

Re: How to replace the DPFE sensor

Hey.
The Haynes Manual has it in section 6, or 6-16 to be more precise. It is not hard to do. You have two rubber lines going to it, they are different sizes, as the plugs on the DPFE. The electrical conection is done by pressing the lock tab on the plug and pulling. I think that there ar two 8mm bolts that hold the sensor to the intake. The part you get may be plastic insted of metal as well. when your done, have AutoZone or another parts store clear your code. Most dont charge for this. Good luck, You can do it.

Re: How to replace the DPFE sensor

Thank you. I have done it. After that, I didn't let someone clear my code. I just simply disconnected and reconneted my battery. The light stays off now. I have put about 1k miles, the light hasn't come back. I think it is fixed

Re: How to replace the DPFE sensor

I have a 2001 SES, and the check engine light stays on as well. I had to chenge the battery, as it died on me. When I hooked the new one up, the light stayed out, but for only a few hours, then came back on. When I had it in the shop recently, the mechanic said it was EGR related, but could be a number of things (EGR valve, valves in the head, etc.) What are the chances of it simply being the EGR valve? If only the EGR valve, where is it located and how much do they usually run at an auto parts store? BTW, I have 71,000 miles on the car if it matters. Any help would be appreciated!

Aaron
