1989 ford thunderbird idles rough my dad had guy put a 90 moter in it they took it out got up to 80 no problems until was done it's a 3800 i think upper intake gasket not head it's not getting hot or loosing antifrezze i can hear a ticking 25 ft. away maybe in jectors or upper intake what do all you think?

Sure it is not a exhaust manifold leak??

could be but when you start it up and turn it off sounds like simi air brake thats why i think upper intake gasket. i sure wouldn't have a therderbird.

Have you tried the spraying of carb cleaner or propane torch test to manifold for vacuum leaks?? Bad brake booster possibly??????????(Just a thought)

no boosters ok done checked that still got spongey brakes and there not rock hard like when a booster is shot. but i'm going to do the test on manifold when i get time.
