A snake stars to shed its skin. 1/24 Cobra/Pegaso conversion
Hi all, this is my first W.I.P. in this forum, the conversion of a Cobra 427 to a Pegaso Z-102 Spider Touring Competition.
Pegaso was a spanish make of trucks, but also produced sports cars between 1951 and 1958. these cars was ahead of its time in the mid 50s, as they had a five-speed transaxle gearbox,in-board rear brakes, and very powerful supercharged quad-cam engines! Just 86 cars were produced, i want to make the two cars which ran at Le Mans 1953 race, coached by carrozeria Touring, equiped with 3.2 litre DOHC desmodromic 32-valve V8 360 hp supercharged engine. ![]() the basis Fujimi 427 SC Cobra: ![]() first of all, in order to increase the thickness of the body shell, I filled it with milliput and polyester putty ![]() ![]() Once it is cured, I start the sanding process ![]() ![]() ![]() . The result is less muscle look, it`s a 1953 Design ![]() ![]() more milliput is added to the rear ![]() side view is still familiar ![]() rear has a new shape ![]() . Now its time to re-shape the front end: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() . a new Hood is made from styrene and placed into position ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Cobra has gone, the new car is still unrecognizable ![]()

This is great model building. A true artist can see the sculpture inside the block of marble and bring it out, and that's what you're doing here.
I also like the choice of subject. I'll be following this one with great interest. Oh yes, welcome to the forum. |

Very cool. I know they destroyed one of these at the Carrera Panamericana, but shipped it back to Spain in boxes. Saw color footage of it. What a cool car with Italian like roots(same engine designer as used by Alfa Romeo). Very good start on the model. So basically you are scratchbuilding a Pegaso!!!

Re: A snake stars to shed its skin. 1/24 Cobra/Pegaso conversion
Guys...be prepared...I have seen this project from start to finish in an European modeling forum some time ago, the modeler is truly a MASTER and true ARTIST in the conversion and detailing of this beautiful car.....and his other models and conversion are nothing short of spectacular, hope he post them here in the forum also!!
In respect to the author of this thread and his possible desire to keep the scractbuilding/conversion postings organized, I will not post the link to the other modeling site....but in my very personal opinion you will enjoy this project very much indeed!!! |
