Buying a used car with a 16K budget.
So I'm 20, and I had a 1999 Jetta for about 3 years, and now I'm thinking of buying a new car, My choices are.
2011 Mustang V6 (Budget is 22k for a new car) Used WRX Used RX-8 Those are the cars I'm into because I can easily modify them (Looks wise) and they are overall affordable. But the thing is, I don't really know anything about cars, and I'm not a "make it as fast as you can" person. I just care for the looks, with the v6 Mustang I have friends that can make it look like a GT, and the wrx I can pull off the STI look and the rx-8 can look nice too. So I hope this gave everyone a good idea of what I like in cars. Just nice and clean looking cars. I need to know, what the best investment would be, MPG wise, I don't drive a lot but still. and Payment and insurance wise. I have never gotten a ticket or been in an accident either. ANY suggestions would help! Thank you. and if there is questions just ask

Re: Buying a used car with a 16K budget.
If you get a Mustang, get the V6 with the Sports package, and go with a Ford Cobra blue with black stripes.
You might want to check with your insurance company, befor purchase. The Insurance payment could be more than the car payment. Last edited by danielsatur; 03-13-2011 at 01:06 PM. |

Re: Buying a used car with a 16K budget.
If you go with a wrx because it's a sport turbo sedan I'm sure your insurance would be pretty expensive for your age. And if insurance isn't to expensive, you gotta ask yourself would you rather have awe and be able to rip around corners sticking the whole time, or red to where you'll have more torque

Re: Buying a used car with a 16K budget.
At your age, ALL of those cars are going to hurt the pocket with insurance. Heck, I'd bet the insurance on one of those would be more than the insurance on my 2 cars and motorcycle combined!
Quite frankly, my best advice to you is drive the Jetta until it falls apart or you turn 25 (whichever comes first) and THEN consider getting a "fun" car. It's hella cheaper and if your taste in cars hasn't dramatically changed by then, then you can afford the insurance on one of those fun cars and have the car you've "always" wanted!
