AC Pulley to replace AC compressor

I have a 93 Trans Sport with a 3.1. The bearing in it has failed and I don't want to put out the money for a new compressor. I can find a pulley that replaces the compressor for a 3.8, but not the 3.1. There is a pulley listed for a 90-91 for the 3.1. I have owned several of these and for the life of me, I don't remember and difference under the hood from a 90 to a 93 with a 3.1. Does anyone know if this will fit? Does anyone have a solution to bypass the AC compressor?

As always, any input is appreciated.

Re: AC Pulley to replace AC compressor

A good boneyard, $35-$75 will have what you need.

Re: AC Pulley to replace AC compressor

YOU can simply (EDIT..well..not that simple) reroute a shorter belt avoiding the A/C compressor. I have the specs for the 3.8....will look for the 3.1.........

ahh.OK ACDELCO Part # 6K598 {#88932703} K06 13/16" x 60 3/8" BELT,SERPENTINE w/o A/C

The a/c belt is only 10 inches longer......there is a much greater difference with the 3.8 (104 and 72) ...I'll look if I can find the actual routing....

Explanation: indeeed you need an idler pulley
ACDELCO Part # 38009 {#88909590} GROOVED PULLEY; Thermoplastic V-Ribbed 6 Grooved (76mm x 17mm x 25mm) PULLEY,BELT IDLER w/o A/C
data taken from rockauto.com. I 'm not sure the idler pulley listed is the complete unit or just the replacement pulley/bearing....

...I would seriously consider brcidd suggestion....
