wow I really messed up... what heilcoil do I need for the rocker arm bolts?
I was doing the LIM install on my 2000 Olds Alero 3400 and it came time to tighten the rockers back down... I looked at the walkthru and read 124 ft/lbs... I remember thinking, wow that's a lot of pressure full aluminum... but what ever went to tighten it down and it pulled the threads right out in a coil... I thought, ok maybe it's just one bad one... tried it again... same result... at this point I am thinking... "huh, something is not right..." so I checked it again... turns out the rocker arms get tightened to 124 in/lbs (plus 30 degrees), NOT 124 ft/lbs oops... what helicoil do I need for the rocker arm bolts? |

Holy smokes.
About the best advice I can give is to take a rocker bolt to the parts place and they should be able to match it up. I dont know if helicoil on a rocker arm is going to be a long term repair. You may end up pulling the head in the near future.
