Renault kangoo van stiff clutch

Hi guys im in the middle of buying a renault kangoo van 1.9 655D 02 plate 59.000 miles
i went to view the van today and its in great condition
the only thing i am concerned about is that when i depress the clutch pedal it seem very stiff
the gears seem to engage fine apart from 5th which is abit stiff ( but that could just be me) i dont now alot about vans or cars but at the moment im driving a 55 plate l200 pickup which has a very nice smooth clutch i was wondering if the stiffness was anything to be concerned about i went for a test run and there does not seem to be a sign of slipping clutch .
can any one give me any info on this as i also don't know weather this make and model van has a hydraulic clutch or just a cable
cheers
mark
