sliding door problems

I have a 03 windstar se with dual power doors the owner i got it from said he got hit in a parking lot and replaced the door. u can tell cause the glass isnt tinted its clear and the speaker wont work or the power assist. I took the door panel off and everything was in there and hooked up. finally i looked at those little round things that contact that metal pad on the pillar when its closed. my passenger side has 7 fingers and 7 little plates. the driver sliding door (the one that was replaced) has 5 fingers and the pillar has 7 just like the other side. what exactly are they for? i push the door switch for the replaced door and you can hear the motor click but nothing else. passenger side works excellent. are they just for the speaker? when its closed it shows the door as closed?

Re: sliding door problems

The 5 pin version indicates the door came form a van without the power sliding door option, needless to say the 7 pin version is the PSD capable version. I've uploaded the connector pinouts of each version in case you are interested, maybe there is some way to replace the metal piece with the pins or you can figure something out of it.

Best regards,

Oscar.

Re: sliding door problems

well i was wandering if i could replace all the stuff out of a psd door into this one the only difference i seen between the two were the psd has the door popper that opens the door not pulls it. cause the motor is in the back right? cause i took my passenger side the one that works panel off and everything looked the same just no door popper and when you push the button for the door u can hear the motor click in the back but the door wont pull or close i figured they might have unhooked it when they changed the doors.

Re: sliding door problems

That's possible if they didn't install the cable and instead they left the rollers then the door won't work, you might try and look for a psd and see if these parts are interchangeable or you'll need the whole thing.

Re: sliding door problems

I garuntee they hooked the cable back up cause that thing is hard to pull just like the other door when you have the psd off. i figured maybe it would close if it was open but no deal just clicks so tomorrow im gonna take it apart and dig a little further. my door lock dont even work on it im thinking i can just find a psd door like i was saying and put it all in it

Re: sliding door problems

The power door initialization process when you install your 7 pin module replacement.

Power Sliding Door Initialization

1. Disconnecting the battery or CJB fuse 6 (15A) will cause the power sliding door control module to lose memory. The power sliding door initialization procedure must be carried out before the power sliding doors will operate under all conditions. The power sliding door initialization procedure is a learning process for the module to identify the full open position and the full close position. After power is restored to the vehicle, initialize the sliding doors as follows:

1 Make sure both power sliding doors are fully closed and latched.

2 Make sure both power sliding doors are unlocked.

3 Make sure the vehicle is in PARK.

4 Make sure that the fuel filler door is closed.

5 Switch the overhead console power sliding door On/Off switch to On.

6 Note:
The keyless entry transmitter or B-pillar switches may be used in place of the overhead console Open/Close switches to initialize the power sliding doors.

Press the driver and passenger overhead console Open/Close switches to open the driver and passenger power sliding doors.

7 Note:
The keyless entry transmitter or B-pillar switches may be used in place of the overhead console Open/Close switches to initialize the power sliding doors.

After the power sliding doors are full open and stopped, press the driver and passenger overhead console Open/Close switches to close the driver and passenger power sliding doors.
