speed limitations??

Ive read that all v6 firebirds have a govenor that keeps them from getting above 118 mph??? Is this true?? Will i be able to disable that?? That would suck if 118 would be my top speed!

All GM cars and trucks have a fuel cutoff speed, every car and truck they are different depending on the speed rating of the factory installed tires. Only way to get rid of the fuel cutoff is to install an aftermarket computer program or computer.

i dont think so...

Hey i got in a race with a 2000 ford mustang with a k&n air filter charger. and we raced way over a quarter mile. it was about a 3/4 mile race. and when we were racing i got up to 128 mph at the end. so i dont know if there is a govenor on the car. unless the pre owner of my car took his govenor off of it before i bought it because i know that i didnt take it off. but the only way you can truly find out about your car is to take it up that hi and see if it stops at 118 mph.

my car is governd at 3500 in fifth, 140 in stock form i believe cause of the 15" wheels it originally had, the 82-92 that came with the 16" wheels are no speed limited, hense the reason for the Z rated tires, my friends had his up to 160.
