Steel/Alloy Wheel
Hello. I'm new to this site and don't have much car knowledge. I recently had a run in with a pot hole and ended up busting my tire and bent the rim of one car tire. I drive a 2002 dodge neon. I'm looking to buy a new rim myself and avoid paying manufacturer prices if i let the garage handle it. I'm a college student so money is tight and I found on craigslist that I could get a almost new steel wheel and tire for a great price. Only problem is my car has alloy rims. The steel rim is the same size as the alloy and looks like it has the same lugnut design (i'll verify when i purchase) I'm wondering if it's possible to put a steel wheel with three alloys and what, if any, complications or problems i would incur. I don't use my car too often and do minimal heavy traveling and at this point in my life i don't care if it looks dumb, i just need to get from point A to B without any major issues. Thanks!

Re: Steel/Alloy Wheel
There is no issue with using a steel rim that are the same dimensions as the alloy. If the rim size, width, offset and bolt pattern are the same, you are good to go.

Re: Steel/Alloy Wheel
It's done all the time- no one with aluminum weels has an aluminum spare in their trunk! - or under their van or truck!

Re: Steel/Alloy Wheel
That's not true. The Stealth/3000GT TT models have an aluminum spare. I would be willing to be they aren't the only ones.
