7 hours of hoperation, finished now They still hope to save his right hand..after today nearly fatal crash.

Your link doesn't load for me. The news is on the Formula1 site though. Best wishes for his full recovery.

Re: Pray hours for Robert Kubica

Best wishes to him but Renault should have never let him rally in combination w/ his F1 career, especially so close to the start of the season.

On a related side note, I still don't think Bruno Senna is ready for F1, let alone stepping up as a driver at Renault.

Re: Pray hours for Robert Kubica

the doctors told there is to wait still at least 7 days before they can say robert's right hand is safe. There were nearly 30 people hoperating him yesterday, both for upper part and for legs.

His cars flip and hitted in the corner of an armco, exactly in the point where there is an interruption of it that cutted the car as a knife entering from engine bay.

I really really hope this guy can be lucky also this time even if all this is really too sad.He was racing this Andora race (a wonderful location by the sea in Liguria, very near to San remo),and he choosed the smaller s2000 even cause renault didnt want him to race the san remo with WRC car.

here a footage of the car following him, and founding him before the end of the race

Re: Pray hours for Robert Kubica

That's horrible, they've replaced that style of armco in the US with a design that prevents it from penetrating the cockpit in situations just like this. I believe John Fitch is the inventor (racing driver too) behind the new design.

Re: Pray hours for Robert Kubica

It's a very rare accident though, it's the first time since I follow rally that I see a security rail penetrating the car body to the cockpit and hit a crew member... and it's something very scary !!

I took a look at Renault press communication, it seems that the gravity of Robert's crash was exagerated concerning his life, he wasn't ever really close to die, but his hand injury was really preocupating, several hours of surgery leaded surgeons (hope it's the correct word) to be quite optimist even if it will need time to know if Robert will recover 100% of his hand hability.
So now let's cross fingers for him
being hit so much in a rally after his F1 Canada serious accident a few years ago is not a good point for rally cars safety...

Re: Pray hours for Robert Kubica

I will not link the live interview to the main doctor hoperating him in sunday (cause is all in Italian, and dunno really if u could understand a single word of the talk), but he say not risk of life, but seriously risk of amputation of right hand and still in very very serious condition.
No way neither to move him (move where then?), in his unlucky he is now in one of the best places in italy where u can be cured for hands.

So it seems that both country press reports agree about Robert real health state and that confirm what I read and report here.
I was tempted to read by myself cos' I saw and heard here and there (and you also said it yourself in your first post BTW) talking about almost lethal crash so I really wanted to know how press or people could talk about a fatal crash when hand injured as all I firstly heard about the crash is "italian rally, out of the road, hit to hand" and it's only by seeing the pics and the video that I realized how serious was the crash, and in a sens, I think we can trully talk of almost fatal crash even if Robert's life isn't treatened because 20/30 cm beside that wasn't the hand...
Really scaring, but it's good to know Robert is now in the right place to get the best attention and hope, I really appreciate this driver, IMO a bit appart from the F1 circus, and who seems more sympathic than most of the other drivers.

Thats the main thing.

Best of luck to him, I hope he gets his full range back, but as long as he's going to keep breathing its a good result.

Smokey

(p.s. its good to hear he's in the best place for treatment.)
