Japanese GT racing skyline engine swap.
I've seen threads about swapping the r32 engine into the newer r34.
I was wondering if we could do the same thing with the JGTC skyline r32 (like the Falken or the Castrol) into the r33,44 (like the Pennzoil nismo or Calsonic). There's a lot of racing r32's with engine details for sale at my local hobby shop and they go cheap. Maybe it's possible to swap engines from the racing skylines too? |

I don't see why not. The R32 racing skylines come with engines. Nothing a little elbow grease won't solve

The only thing I need to know is if both cars used the same engine.
Well as long as they were remotely similar I'd be happy. I'll make some research and post what I find. |

I believe the VQ powered R34 racer was only introduced in the mid 2002, so up until then, R32, R33 and R34racers were all powered by RB26.

i had researched this idea and found out that the penzoil nismo cars and the likes have a very different engine setup specially the air filter setup and lots of the engine component. i scrapped the idea

Well the Pennzoil Nismo kit already has a good portion of the engine (the bottom half) so I guess I could start there using the top parts of the r32 engine and make it fit.
It's not really important for me to have a 100% acurate engine, as long as it's remotely similar and doesn't look like it's been thrown in there just like that. I'll get the R32 kit anyway, for 20$ CAN it's really cheap and if I cannot fit the engine properly, i'll just build the R32. Ah! |

go for it I think it would be fairly easy. I was able to shove the R32 tamiya engine into my fujimi silvia. If you are trying to recreate the exact engine detail of the racecar then you might have some problems, but if you want to just have the skyline with a skyline engine detail from a kit that didn't come with it, don't forget the hood isn't going to open up and that hood conversion will be harder than the engine IMO.

Thr R32 and R34 race car use different RB engine. The R32 use RB26DETT and AWD. The R34 is RB28DETT and RWD. The R32 use the stock engine cover(the one in tamiya kit) and the R34 only has the valve cover without the stock RB cover.

Well that's certainly good to know.
You wouldn't have pictures of both engines perhaps? Thanks Quote:

Okay, so that's what I would see inside the Pennzoil Nismo, right?
