Couple questions.

First of all I am in the process of buying a 1998 Honda Civic EX Sedan. The problem is..I read on a website that the 98 civic EX has a vtec engine, but when I looked under the hood of this car I see no stamps, stickers, etc saying vtec...So I was wondering if anyone knew if there are certain series of engines that dont actually get stamped noticably or even at all?

Another thing is this car has hub's (no alloy's) and no tinted windows, but has power locks, windows, and a moonroof, it is 5spd manual tranny. and cloth enterior. They are asking $11,996 for it..

The EX is without a doubt a VTEC. Look for the VTEC solinoid on the left rear corner of the valve cover.

look on the block in the front of the engine, to the left of the exhaust main, about mid way down the block, and right next to the tranny. its alittle flat piece of metal, it should say d16y8, if it doesnt than u dont got a vtec motor

Dude - all i gotta say, is click here. The kelley blue book price on that car, in excellent condition w/ 70k miles on it is just over $8000.

Edit - that link won't work, but if you enter all the info yourself at www.kbb.com, the price listed is $8034.

It too expensive! I went looking at dealers and I wanted to spend around $8k for a 97-98 EX. They all laughed!. Well anyway I just bought a 2000 Civic Si 27K miles for $10,500. You should be able to get your car for around $8k.

This car has only 37.000 miles on it, but has some minor damge to the rear right fender well, (looks like they backed into something) But you got an si for 10,500? dang, I always wanted an si, but the problem with that is I am in the military stationed in germany and cant really find them, but the german honda dealers have some hella nice si type r's for about 15,000 but it would cost about 2000 to get them converted to US spec and that is a bunch of hassle cause you have to get it converted in the states by a certified company which means i would have to ship it to a port and find a company that can do it in 30 days or they ship it back... oh would be sweet though
