Profil 24 - recent release Aston Martin DBR1 first look.

Hi,
this is a recent release from Profil24 (Jan 2011) I thought I would post some pics of the kit for anyone who may be interested.
Box contents

Body parts. Bonnet, boot and doors can be posed open. If you want hinges you will have to make them yourself, some nice P/E door hinges are included but are not functional.

Wheels parts, flexible rubber tyres P/E spokes, white metal and machined ally rims, white metal hubs. Very nicely done.

Resin components, seats, body parts, fuel tank, etc. The engine is very nicely done and the ignition wire holes are cast in.

White metal parts for chassis frame, suspension, lights, engine details, etc. Not looking forward to this bit lol.

P/E sheet and decal sheet. Decals for No's 4,5 and 6 cars from the LeMans race (number 5 was winner, 6 came in second and 4 DNF)

Really looking forward to building this one and very happy to have this gorgeous Aston in my collection/stash.
As usual, the instructions leave a bit to be desired. I have found a few parts on the white metal trees that I can't identify but I am sure all will become clear!

Hope this is of use to some of you.
Regards,
Steve.

Looks like a nice kit. Im sure it will have problems as Profil 24 kits always do. That said they always build up to look great and have alot more detail than the Studio 27 kits.

Thanks for sharing your new kit. From the pics it looks promising. Not much out there in 1/24th from the fifties and it has a drivetrain too! I hope you'll do a build thread when you start on it.

looks good.
It's always nice to see a engined kit of an Aston in 1/24.
Do you have some better shots of the engine?

I've been after a decent engine for a DB5 but could never bring myself to borrow one from a MFH kit.
You say it's pre-drilled for wiring so does that mean that all 12 (twin-spark) holes are drilled out completely or are they just "marked"?

It wouldn't surprise me if that engine IS the Hiro.

...that was also my thoughts...

but if someone else has done the recasting, then it saves me a headache with silicone and resin myself.

I have bought this kit while I was at Retromobile (in Paris) last week and, believe me, the engine is not a copy of Hiro's one. It is completely different and a very nice engine by the way.

With this DBR1, Profil 24 is approaching Hiro's quality level for at least $100 less than a Hiro kit. I have paid 128 €, which is the equivalent of $175 US dollars. This is a correct price for a very detailed kit.

Jean-Philippe Boyer plans to produce only 150 kits of the DBR1. If it is on your buying list, do not wait too long before ordering it because they will all be sold before long !
