Revell Ferrari California/Hobby Design Hamann
I was at Hobbytown looking for "stuff" for my Modena build, when I and ran into this kit and I felt it call me (like everything else I wanna buy
). I was hesitant at 1st because it's from Revell. Obviously I got it anyway , and I am happy I did since it is a well made kit, much to my surprise. So I dropped my Modena and got on this after I got my HD Hamann trans kit. I must say that it is not bad at all. Besides the usual HD wheel clean up and weird residue on tires. So far it seem to fit rather well with minor tweaking. I also got the 315 wide tires from HD and was disappointed. They don't seem as wide. So my plan is to use as much of the HD kit as possible. I hope to adjust the height and use some CF decals. I am not certain of the color yet. Anyway here we go: Kit includes front and rear diffusers, spoiler, side skirts, PE, valve stems and wheels with tires ![]() Here are the wheels. I think I will used the Enzo rear tires to fill wheel gap and because of their width. ![]() I opened the speaker grills and seat belt openings ![]() I'm also opening the air vents and using the PE pieces ![]() I am painting the interior Ferrari Rosso from scalefinishes. Airbrush on over plastic and you're done. Here is the interior mock up. ![]() hobby 010 by bosox23, on Flickr That's all for now. Thoughts, advise and criticism welcome. Thanks for looking

Looks good. Do the PE parts fit so far?

Re: Revell Ferrari California/Hobby Design Hamann
Hello everyone! I have made some progress on the interior. Godd news is that the PE set fits perfectly so far and had a nice amount of detail. I used felt paper for the carpet, installed seat belts and buckles, pedals, air vents, and even the leather stap near the headrest using PE, and used CF decals.

Re: Revell Ferrari California/Hobby Design Hamann
Quick update. I finally got body painted. I used Cobra Colors Nero Daytona. Too bad they are not around anymore. They were in town so I would get colors very fast. I also Have chasis painted and ready to have suspension assembled. I can't wait.
![]() ![]() ![]() Now to polish this bad boy. Thanks for looking

Re: Revell Ferrari California/Hobby Design Hamann
I felt same way since it's by Revell. But I'm very glad I did. The suspension is very very simple and the engine could be a little better. Other than that it's great.
Here's a mock up. You can see how simplistic the suspension is. I had to modify a set of Tamiya modena struts since Revell's are so bad. You probobly will not see them when assembled. But I wanted to scratchbuild some for 1st time. I used Aclad on exhaust since the I didn't loke Konsute Gin San. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Revell Ferrari California/Hobby Design Hamann
The car is finally polished. I shot these quickly at dusk, but I think look pretty close to the real thing. I used Menzerna products to polish and love how it turned out. This is the first time I paint a car black. And my first time using my dual action airbrush. Hope you guys like it. And I have no idea how I got so many fuzzies on car

Thank you. I am very pleased.

So here's what I have done. And I'm sure some will consider this blasphemy, but I did not care for the brakes on this kit. So I used the Brembo set off my Fujimi GTR I had left over which are amazing. I looked everywhere for Ferrari decals and failed. Oh well. ![]() The back side is the part that is lacking. Even if the HD PE set had rotors for the back side, the calipers are non-existent ![]() The radiator PE looks good ![]() I started to do some carbon work using this ![]() The engine bay covers ![]() ![]() Finished after some 40 minutes. Now to clear coat! ![]() I'll post pics of the engine and other goodies later. It's dark so pics look bad. Thanks for looking

Re: Revell Ferrari California/Hobby Design Hamann
Sadly somehow some of the future pokish i was applying to the engine bay cf got on the fender. And of course like a dummy I poked at it with my nail and pulled it off with some of the color. To make matters worse I was totally out of the original color which I loved. My only option was to, after a couple of days of disgust, get back on the horse and use Tamiya metallic black. i am happy with the results but do miss the first color.
After polishing the car I got excited and assembled it to see what it would look like. I am very happy so far. I pulled another idiotic move by breaking one of the wheels (thin spokes!), and therefore have to wait for another set. Some of the PE is too small so I skipped them. I took some of these shots tonight so they are rather dark. Enuff said. Will update later. Thanks for looking

Re: Revell Ferrari California/Hobby Design Hamann
I'm not in love with the yellow lights and blue exhaust tips but it is interesting none the less. Great progress.

Re: Revell Ferrari California/Hobby Design Hamann
Did that set solution work better than microscale kind?
