01 Cougar V6 "L" Timing Marks

Anyone have a pic or link to a diagram of the 01 Cougar V6 timing marks? I got one that I suspect of being out of time. I never done one before and hate to just tear into it blind. Thanks a Million!

Re: 01 Cougar V6 "L" Timing Marks

Well, I jumped in it blind. My first time ever in one of these engines. The front (left in the literature I've read) bank had zero compression on all cylinders, while the back had 190 P.S.I. across the board. Figured the front chain was out, so pulled the cam cover. The timing marks appear to be out, and all 6 rockers on the intake cam were BROKEN in two! All the exhaust cam rockers were also off the valves and lash adjusters; but were not broken and look like they could be used again. Leakdown test showed all the intakes are bent. Didn't have a camera there or I'd have some pics up. Will get some up as soon as I can. She said she was just driving down the road and it died. Looks like it might be dead all right.

Broke right in two! All six on the intake cam did this; the exhaust side had none broken but all were out of place.
