2000 Blazer wont move in any gear selection

Hi there I have a 2000 Blazer ls 4.3 with the 4L60E. It has roughly 83,000 miles on it. Back in October I replaced the trans with a reman trans. I have had no problems until 3 days ago. It first started with a ticking noise, it sounded like a lifter was ticking. So on my way home from work I'm in the middle of accelerating from a stop and the engine revs and nothing happens. I try all gear selections, 4hi, 4lo nothing. Also this ticking has disappeared. I'm lost. Any ideas would be great.

Thanks AJ

Fluid level and condition?
Ticking can be engine flywheel going bad or bolts coming lose.
Check transmission pressure.
Or remove splash cover and see if converter is turning with engine running.

How good is the warranty on it?

Post back what you find.

The fluid level is way high. Thats cold hasn't ran in a day. I pulled the top trans line off that goes into the radiator and started the engine. Put it in every gear range selection, no fluid comes out of the line. The converter is still bolted to the flywheel. So I am thinking the pump went bad.

Oh and warranty was suppose to be 2 years or 24,000 miles. I guess if I ever get a hold of the company than I could ask them what I need to do.

Is fluid black or burnt?
Did you speed up engine for fluid flow test?
If converter turning with engine running and you speeded up engine some and .
No fluid out cooler lines points to transmission not pumping pressure.
I would remove transmission pan and look there.
See if any metal or clutch suff or black or parts are in bottom of pan.
Check filter and pick up on filter and valve body shifting linkage.

If 2 year warranty better catch up with that company.
They may have some test they want you to do before pulling transmission.
Let us know how it goes.
Good Luck

Good advice. The pan drop may reveal something. Make sure the pressure relief valve is intact. I found one lying in a pan once, causing no oil pressure. You might get lucky like that, or maybe not, but you'll likely discover something, good or bad.

Fluid looks like new. I sped engine up and no fluid with line disconnected. I will be pulling pan here shortly and I'll post back. Thanks for the help so far.

Where is the pressure relief valve located or if its not laying in the pan I"m ok?

Re: 2000 Blazer wont move in any gear selection

Oh also could this be anything to do with say the transfer case is in between gears (2wd and 4wd). I have had this happen on my jeep with a lever type transfer case engagement. Just thought there could be somthing like this going on with the pust button part on the blazer. Is there a motor that selects what range the transfer case is in?

Re: 2000 Blazer wont move in any gear selection

The transfer case is located behind the transmission, so if it was between gears, even if you have the truck in park, it would still potentially roll.

Besides, you already found no cooler line flow, so thats a big problem to get figured out. You could also be lucky and your trans filter dropped into the pan causing no oil flow/pressure.

Anther thing I will mention too, don't run your truck without trans oil pressure for too long or you'll burn bearings/pump and parts up very quickly.

Ok trans is out. I found the two tabs on the trans oil pump that the torque converter locks into ground off. So there was my problem. Now what!?

Sounds like a bad rebuild job.

If there is a warranty on it get a hold of the people that sold it to you and ask for another transmission at there expense..

If you are going to fix it yourself at your expense.
Dig deep in the pocket book.

The complete transmission will need to come down to clean bare metal and repaired as needed and also another rebuilt converter and transmission cooler flushed.
Whem something lke that breaks and grinds up it throws metal all threw the transmission and converter and transmission cooler.

Or buy just buy a good quality rebuilt transmission.

With you taking the transmission apart, will that void the warranty?
