1994 draw on battery

I unhooked the positive and the negitive battery cable and hooked a test light between them one at a time. The test light was on but not real bright. I disabled the alarm with the passenger side door using the key. Every door I opened and closed the test light would come on and flash bright and dim. I used the key in the passenger side door lock to disable the alarm and the test light would go out. I got in the jeep and the test light was blinking and I heard a clicking noise under the glove box. Would the clicking noise under the glove box be a relay to the security system? Since I don't have a key fob---would that have anything to do with the battery loosing charge and going dead after a couple of days? While the test light was surging bright dim, bright dim while sitting in the jeep after closing the door, I put the key in the ignition and turned it to the on position for a couple of seconds the test light would go out after turning the key to the off position. Is there anyway to check for a battery draw with both cables hooked to the battery? Is there any other way to check for a draw besides the test light?

Thanks for all your help in advance.

Re: 1994 draw on battery

1) Use a Volt meter instead of a test light.
2) How amps are being used with the key in the off pos.
3) If too many amps are being used, start isolating fuses until no amps.
4) Start with Batt fuses 1st, these circuits are unswitched, and can drain a battery.

Re: 1994 draw on battery

One thing I know is if your battery is not in top condition they will go dead in short order. Batteries these days don't seem to last me much more than a few years, even the 6 year batteries. Make sure you battery is taking a full charge & is in good condition.
The above post tells how to troubleshoot if the battery is OK.
