Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
Ok guys, I'll start with this new Revell kit.
I got it straight from the Revell company to build it for a dutch modelling magazine. The kit contains a lot of parts, but a few of them won't be needed. I don't know why but Revell putted some extra steeringwheels, exhausts and other parts in it. And they are not the same.... And some carbon and numberplate decals which won't be used. The body also looks good. Some minor moldingmarks which can be easily removed. Because this is a 1/25 kit and from the USA (i think) the wheels are much better then the german Revell. The tyres are still crap, but the wheels are just one piece this time So if there are some german people from Revell who watching this thread.... PLEASE stop using those shitty multipiece wheels!Under the car they look like this: That's not how I want it, so I will use some Aoshima 2 piece Kranze wheels. The spokes will be painted in a different color, but since I don't know what color I'll use for the body I have to wait to paint them. Kris.

Re: Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
The extra parts are from the other vette kits. Yea, please make revell ag stop with the weird 2 piece wheels. You guys always get the better decal sheets tho.

Re: Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
As Frank says, the extra parts are from earlier non-ZR1 'Vettes. Pay attention to the instructions/part numbers, and Google yourself images of the ZR1 interior/engine/etc.
I'd heard the Revell AG decals weren't that great for the carbon fiber. The two sections, the roof itself and the B pillar area should be going in two different directions. I'll be using some tape to make templates for mine. Yes, the wheels are nice...but dammit Revell, if you are going to tool up new wheels and tires, it would be nice if they were the proper 19's front 20's rear and not 18's & 19's ![]() Do some kit designers still not have a clue that the visible wheel diameter is larger than the diameter of the tire bead where it meets the rim? I suspect that has to be the case ![]() A 20" wheel in 1/25 scale should measure out to about .86" or 21.84 mm. The ZR1 wheels are .78" front, .81" rear, or 19.81 mm front, 20.57 mm rear.

Re: Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
Yesterday I did some little work on the body. First I sanded the moldlines away and scribed out the panellines. After that I removed the molded ''mesh'' and opened the airintakes in the bumperlip.
Kris.

Re: Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
I started to paint the chassis
![]() Van de week ben ik begonnen het chassis alvast te spuiten. I glued the engineparts together and painted it Revell nr.99 Aluminium. After that I did a light wash with some thinned Tamiya Smoke paint. After that I drilled some holes to add some sparkplugs. After this I could add the chrome silver painted exhaust manifolds, the pully and belt and some decals. Still not sure about the bodycolor yet.... Kris.

Re: Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
So the chrome is removed from the rims.
And I painted the body with 4 layers or so. And primered the wheels: Now it's time to do some cf decal work on the body. I also want to ask for your help. The wheels need te be repainted but I really don't know what color to use for it. I want to keep the chrome lip. Black is always a good combo on every car, but I want to go for an other color. So what do you suggest? Kris.

As for wheels, I'd suggest a dark gray that complements the "color" of the carbon fiber you are using on the roof etc. Adjust the gray warm or cool depending on the particular carbon fiber you are using. Tamiya Gunmetal is a good dark gray metallic that's fairly neutral in color.

Re: Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
Like Bob said dark grey works well with lots of schemes.
Shown here in HOK Kustom Kolors Galaxy grey with semi gloss clear and Alclad polished Aluminum rings.
