My G' is back on the road. Yes!

Well, here is the short version.

On Saturday, I decided to replace the oil pressure switch because it was leaking oil. So, I went to my friends, jacked it up with jackstands in place. I removed the leaking switch, wrapped the new threads with plumbers tape, hand tightened then began to tighten with a ratchet. SNAP! What was that? I began to remove the switch to see what snapped. Oh damn! A piece of the oil filter bracket casting broke off and fell on my chest. Then I looked in the socket and the oil pressure switch was in the socket in one piece. NO!!!! I busted my engine.

Anyhow, on Sunday, my buddy and I got the car on ramps. I loosened the power steering pump and moved it outta the way. Then proceeded to remove the oil filter bracket. Took me 2.5+ hrs w/o a FSM. What a PITA!

On Monday, went to Infiniti dealer, order parts ($70)

On Tuesday, spent 2.5 hrs putting the bracket back in. Threaded the oil switch, installed it, did an oil change and filter.

Started the car and looked for leaks. NONE! Took it around the block. Looked for leaks. NONE! Drove it to work this morning. Woohoo!

That was the shortened version. Much more, but didn't want to bore all!

MORAL OF THE STORY: DON"T OVER TIGHTEN!!! ESPECIALLY THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH and GET A FREAKIN' FSM

It would have made this repair a lot easier.

Speaking of over tightening....

What would be a decently priced torque-wrench that is good for mostly anything we could tighten on our car?

I know alot of the torque specs are in the FSM, however some of them are hard to find and some dont have them at all. Does anyone have a sort of "list" of torque specs for everything?

Picked mine up at Sears. Craftsman's 20ftlbs to 75ftlbs I think. It was $69.99.

They have a range of them from $59.99, $69.99, $99.99 and up!
