Blower Motor Resistor
97 Safari AWD. I need to replace the blower motor resistor. I ordered it and it was very different from what I removed. The auto supplier say's it is the correct part. I went on-line to several other suppliers and they show the exact same part as the 1st one - but all different from what I removed from my Safari. Here is a photo of the 2 side by side - the original on the left. The new one will not even fit through the slot that the old one came out of. Any ideas?
Thanks!! Roland Resistor 3.JPG |

Re: Blower Motor Resistor
I just finished replacing the variable resistor on my 2000 Astro 15 minutes ago. The new one is a universal part. It will work perfectly.
Note: the four prongs protruding from it won't allow it to fit into the blower motor housing. Instead of trimming the housing, I used side-cutters and snipped the posts off. It fits perfectly and all functions work well. You've got the right part. |

Re: Blower Motor Resistor
GM had trouble with the circuit board burning up, as you can see
so they redesigned it. I have not seen the new design fail........... yet
