Cut to the chase - I create a really cool avatar in jpg format and shrink it down to about 40x70 pixels - faaaar smaller both in size and kb than the requirements here, and I still get UPLOAD FAILED!

What the . . ?!

Still has to be under 20 kb file size. Post as an attachment and I'll scale it for you, if necessary. Otherwise, try scaling it yourself to below the 20k file size limit.

Well... the thing you're trying to upload as an avatar is actually an 866px × 594px photograph.

This is an avatar, scaled to 100* (max one side):

Well I thought that's what I was doing by shrinking it in Paint and saving as a .jpg file instead of one of the larger memory hog formats. Guess my folks flushed 40+thousand dollars down the terlet for a meaningless college degree in "management information systems"! LOL.

Paint?!?!?!? Someone still uses that???

By the way, it's always best to annotate (add text to) an image AFTER it has been resized, so it can be read better (especially with tiny images such as avatars).

Well, tried that one, still "upload failed". Guess I should just be happy to be here on A-F, even if I can't "toot my horn." Gotta learn to be humble I guess.

Are you sure you're uploading the right image? Works just fine for me. Reload this page to see our new avatar.

You might try closing your browser (praying it's Firefox) and purging your cache, then try to upload again.

I see it on you. I saved the one you downscaled as "scaled down" so I wouldn't confuse them, and went throught the A-F ropes to upload it.By the way it saves as a .gif - don't know if this is more efficient file format size-wise or not. I don't know. No big deal, but thanks for trying and helping!

Well I dunno then... only thing I can think of now is, try renaming to a file name without spaces or special characters. Just rename it to simply....

And try uploading that. If that fails, I guess we'll wait for TS to investimigate.

Okay, the issue is that you had the image uploaded to/as your profile pic, not your avatar. I uploaded as your avatar and it should be all okay now.
