update

so this tank was a harder than i thought,

the filler neck, wiring harness and return line, were easy, just a hose clamp for the filler neck, the wiring harness almost fell off and the return line just slips off.
even thought there is plenty of room to get under the driver side, in front of the rear diff, it was not enough to be able to disconnect the quick connect gas lines of the sender unit. i actually had to unbolt the bottom plate and drop the tank all the way down (as far as the jack would let it), then i took out the sender unit from the tank. now the tank is out of the way and you have plenty of room to jack with the quick connects on the fuel lines, the L brackets are just retainers, get those out of the way with a flat head screw driver. you will probably have to buy a fuel line tool to disconnect those lines, they are easily found at your local parts store for about 7 bucks, the fuel lines are 3/8", they are well worth the money. i used two pairs of pliers to get them loose, one on the fuel line itself, just as a brace, then i inserted the tool into the coupling, and used a pair of channel lock to squeeze the pliers and fuel line tool together,or into the coupling. it takes some time but works good for a stubborn coupling.

anyway the results are the tank is rusted through do to mud and water trapped between the bottom plate and the tank. a new steel tank is $88 dollars plus shippping and a plastic is around $150 plus shipping, i might as well replace the sending unit and filler neck since im here anyway. hope this helps some of you....
