Instrument Cluster Lens

My father was driving his 07 silverado one day and the instrument panel just popped and cracked. We aren't 100% why but the truck is out of warranty. Can the lens be replaced or do you need a whole new cluster. Where to buy?

Re: Instrument Cluster Lens

no accidents. He was just driving "pop". Thought it was the windshield but later found it was the instrument panel lens. This happened a couple of months ago. Not sure if it was cold/moisture/pressure ect..

Nope, he bought truck brand new. But good thought anyway on possible cause. He said he the defrost was on when it cracked. Found out it is about 350.00 for a new one from dealership. 250.00 at one scrap yard but it has way too many miles on it and it would have to be sent off to adjust mileage.

If the plastic cover [clear] is only broken don't replace the whole dash cluster...you can not operate vehicle with this removed. this may take 2 weeks, then the mileage paper work ...

see if the scrap yard has a cluster that is not working and see if the part needed can be removed then glued on if necessary to secure.

check that the air ducting is installed correctly
