2001 trunk torque rod left

My left trunk torque rod, one of the two rods that support the trunk when open, broke on me the other day. I went to my local dealer and they told me the right torque rod was still available, but the left torque rod had been discontinued. Are these two rods interchangeable? Thanks in advance.

I looked in a partsbook. Right or left, same part. The dealer didn't say it was the same part? The part I looked at was from AUTOZONE. Yeh. Napa also has an online partsbook, take a look.

Thanks for responding jdl. The parts dealer didn't know if they were interchangeable and they wouldn't let me return the part if it didn't fit correctly. I will check it out at autozone. Thanks for the help.

Re: 2001 trunk torque rod left

Just in case anyone is curious, I had to go to a junkyard and pry the left torque rod off a junked alero. I couldn't purchase a 'right' torque rod from an auto retail outlet b/c it wouldn't fit. The left and right rods are mirror images meaning you just can't turn a right torque rod 'backwards' and have it fit. I used the provided jack to raise the rod into position and then I used a long screwdriver to force the rod into the slot. I now have a working trunk again!
