Ordered months ago....waiting still! Dealer BS ???

5 months ago we ordered a 2011 Sonata Limited ,harbor gray with wine interior.

The dealer has been unable to find one or order one for ???? reasons.

Well yesterday they called and told us they found out Hyundai has stopped producing the wine interior, but, they found one with 1700 miles on it (what a coincidence right).

They offered the original price we agreed on plus .50 cents a mile discount $850
Do you think .50 c a mile is fair, and how many miles does it take to consider a car
a used car. I figure the depreciation would be greater if I had put 1700 miles on it myself...Right ? What do you folks think?....Thanks

IMO, $850. is a joke, but before we arrive at a negotiable figure please answer following

1,,, is this vehicle at another dealership being used as a demo ?

2,,, has this vehicle been registered ? if so what is the in service date ? phone the dealer.

1700 miles is a used car. Dealers avoid registering them by using dealer license plates. They can use it and abuse it and then try to sell it as new. Check NADA, Blue book or Black book for a used one. $850 doesn't even scratch the surface, more like 4 times that! They've jerked you around too much already, don't bend over for them.

Re: Ordered months ago....waiting still! Dealer BS ???

Thanks for the help guys......
Ray......Yes the car is at another dealer being used as a demo. It is in Dallas now they are going to have it here Wednesday (last Monday they said it would be here Saturday)
And it has not been registered yet

Old Master.....Yes sir I have tried to get the price of a 2011 from several of the sites but none of them will show me a used 2011 car .

To give you more info our original negotiated price is $26,633.82 out the door.
2011 Sonata Limited with out the Nav package.
And of course they were sure to add when they told me they were getting it down here that if I don't want it they would have no problem selling it. Just trying to maintain or get back a little advantage.

The big hold up in all this is the Wine interior, they say now (after 5 months) that Hyundai is no longer producing the wine interior.(This came from the dealer.) Funny, you can still build on with it at Hyundai's site. I am in no hurry for this purchase and am willing to wait for the vehicle I want and not settle for one I don't.

I sent several e-mails to Hyundai's main site but have not received a reply.
Again thanks for your help.

Re: Ordered months ago....waiting still! Dealer BS ???

A few observations Re - your post

1,,, Tried to get a price on a used 2011,,, lol,,, were still in 2010 " here is how it works " Dealers will let staff drive brand new cars that will then be marked down for discounts for every month driven, but there will be a limited mileage allowed before vehicle is considered used subject to which state or province.

2,,, They would have no problem selling the vehicle,,, yes it's their challenge point to you when it comes down to negotiations " how good are you "

3,,, Why send several emails to the main site, from experience it does not work, the paper is pushed from one desk to another, and when you finally get an answer it will most likely be a vague one. Phone customer service, these calls are recorded, if you don't get the answer, ask to speaks to the next level up.

I will be interested you posting the final outcome.
