Almost lost to a slow little BMW.

So this is just a filler since nothing interesting has happened to me in weeks and the forums are dead.

About three weeks ago Im driving home from work and get overtaken by glimmering white Bimmer. Its driving in and out of lanes like an asshole i.e. classic BMW owner!
Now I dont care much for BMWs aside from the M series cars which I can talk about all day. This one was badged as a 135i. It reminded me of the old 318 which was a small sporty car for college girls, it had a tiny engine and made a cute noise so I figure this one is a re-vamp updated version. Well I didnt care for it till we stop at a light side by side and this foo is jumping the car foward so I knew he wanted some Aussie pwnage!

As soon as the light goes green he takes off....I mean REALLY takes off. I underestimated this guy and now Im on the gas like "oh shit can I catch him?" (he was about a nose ahead of me all through 1st.)
By second gear we are dead even side by side and the revs are climbing but I cant loose him!
Shift to 3rd and he inches forward but then starts to fall back, slowly I see his nose going past my peripheral and back to where I cant see him anymore so I know he is at the back of my door. As I shift to 4th we are way past the 100 mph mark and this cat is still at my tail bumper. Dont know why but he let off. just let off. Had I missed 5th gear which would of been insane cause I never race into fifth he could of taken me. of course by then we'd be over 145 mph so I woulda backed off first.

I went home and told the wife " I almost lost to a baby Bimmer! I think the Goat is getting slower or I have bent rods or something but im no longer as fast as I should be"

It wassnt till the following week that a co-worker stops me at work and is like "hey you drive that blue pontiac right?" and Im like "yeah" hes all like " I saw you spank that BMW" and Then he tells me its a 3.0 Inline 6 Turbo!
I really had no idea it was boosted but a car that light with that powertrain, Shit Im not feeling so bad now.

Yeah, the 135i is a turbo I6. With just a chip they'll do over 400HP. I would venture to say that one would out perform an M3 in every way. They're also underrated from the factory for that reason.

Haha snuck up on you did he? Best be sticking around the forums keeping those eyes peeled on the latest "it" cars.

Before I know it, I'll be seeing a post of your obituary reading: "Member of car forum ego exploded after losing to a smart car".

Nice run man. They are pretty quick cars. About 280whp stock, and with bolt ons and a chipped ECU on 17psi and meth guys are seeing into the 420-430whp range. A guy on my other forums just posted a video of him racing one and he has pretty mush my exact old setup so it caught my interest lol

Re: Almost lost to a slow little BMW.

The ()35s are epic sleepers. Like said, waaaaaay underrated. That, or BMW came up with an epic drive train that looses nothing through drive train loss. Doesn't take much to make 'em quick either.

Still, something about a big ol V8 makes it a race, uh? Good kill, just gotta keep your eyes open for chick cars...

Re: Almost lost to a slow little BMW.

I wonder if the driver of that 135 was surprised there was a Pontiac that could actually give him a run? I mean after looking at the cost of the car and the performance charts Id be curious if some dude in a lazy V8 with a "cheesy interior" (yeah Im looking at you Civ!) didnt just loose.

So what was that about smart cars?

Re: Almost lost to a slow little BMW.

Those can be some seriously quick little cars. Definitely an underestimate me car. Glad your still giving em' hell, though. Speaking of which, I need to get a race in with my roommate's 2010 SS Camaro before snow falls.
