Please help..Problems experiancing don`t make sense
First, great site, has helped me w/other info, but have`nt come across anything so far that helps w/problem I`m having now..
Please bear w/me as I try to explain what`s happening & what I`ve noticed along the way.. I have a '99 S-10 2wd 2.2l (mfi/sfi).. No signs of any problem prior to the start of this mess..Come out of store, truck started right up,but as soon as I tried to give it gas, it stalled..After a few tries,I left it overnight..Next day, same thing..Did notice there seemed to be excess of water in tail-pipe, so added some dry gas,also noticed service light was on..Had a computer(?) hooked to it,but no codes showed..After some time playing w/gas pedal it would idle on it`s own as long as I did`nt try to give any gas,left it again..Came back 3rd day,still started right up, but needed time to get it to idle again..Don`t know what fixed it,but after 10 minutes of idling, I could drive it again like nothing ever happened & on way home the service light went out.. 2nd time, same thing, after driving back from town, went to start, fired right up,but would stall if givin any gas..This time, after a few tries of starting & trying to get it to idle,it quit starting all together..After a couple hrs., I got it running w/high idle & popped clutch and let it idle back to house..But after I turned it off, it would`nt start..This time also noticed service light on.the mileage lcd would go dim & lights on stereo would go out when trying to start..Couldn`t get it to start, & realized now the fuel pump was not turning on..Couple days later was going to change pump, but tried starter fluid 1st..It fired right up & ran normal again..Started & turned off about 5 times that day,drove to post office and back-everything was great,service light off..Drove 2 more times-all fine..Went to mothers house, when ready to leave,truck started but stalled when given gas..Now is when I noticed all the following:When not started, I don`t have tail/brake,or license lights..Headlights & front parking work..When running, no headlights & ft. parking are very dim, tail/brake lights work, but when I push on brake,truck stalls..Now even more weird,during the times of trying to start, I lost power to fuel pump, let off parking brake, started again on 1st try,but still only idling..Also w/out running,I tried turn signals,the arrows on dash start out normal for a sec. then dim out..While it idles as soon as I try to turn on parking/headlights they turn on for sec. then truck shuts off..It`s still sitting this time.. It`s the 3rd time it`s happened,each time problem happens is when trying to start, after driving..When it does run, it`s like there never was a problem, no misses,all lights work,etc..I`m at a loss!! When it is cting up or no start check all power supplies and fuse for good 12 volt power and all grounds. If service light came on when running a good engine capable canner will pull history codes.

sounds like the ground from the body to the frame, if you cant find it just run a new one from the firewall to the frame and one from the frame to the motor,also replace the gound cable on the battry

bad ignition switch can cause all kinds of weird problems too. check grounds etc as stated above.
if that doesn't fix it, i'd replace the ign switch.

Huge thanks to MT-2500 & mcmalloy for for suggesting to look at ground wires..Turns out all problems I was having was due to the ground wire, (under hood, passenger side) from the firewall to the frame..Connection at firewall was tight & clean, other end I found not connected..Did`nt find where it was conn. to, so I drilled hole in frame and bolted it..
Fixed everything & all is good so far..
