Yamaha Trial TY125 1:8
Hello,
Next project is a Heller kit: YAMAHA TY125 Trial bike at 1:8 scale. The real thing: ![]() Engine is glued together, wheels cut off and the hubs are drilled for insect pins. Will make a jig to drill and assemble the wheel with the spokes. Engine will be bolted to the frame to be able to build the complete engine and detail it out of the frame. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() First try on rear sprocket went wrong, too much rpm and too little feedrate on my DIY CNC router: ![]() The handlebar will be attached with 0.9mm screws: ![]() Update will follow as there is some progress

Re: Yamaha Trial TY125 1:8
Hi, Uli.
Thanks ! The spokes are 0,4mm stainless steel insect pins, that took long time to find a right model. Finally find them literally from the other side of the globe: Ento supplies, Australia. http://www.entosupplies.com.au/ |

Re: Yamaha Trial TY125 1:8
Very nice work! I managed to get variously sized insect pins from a company in the UK, but have long since lost their address!
![]() Out of interest, are you going to use the engineers pens for the spoke nipples? That will be expensive! Minimeca make very small diameter stainless steel tubes - I think they're Switzerland based, if that helps? Some of their tubes are around 10mm long, so you can cut two, or three, 1/6th spoke ends from each one. Good luck, it's looking good already! |

Re: Yamaha Trial TY125 1:8
I just got a link from fellow modeller in Finland. A UK based company to supply insect pins: http://www.watdon.co.uk/the-naturali...alog/Pins.html

Re: Yamaha Trial TY125 1:8
Thanks for the link for the insect pins.
I was also searching for the metal head type. In Germany you only get the type with the nylon head. Here is another source for steel tubes form Hobby Design in various sizes: http://www.plasticmodelkits.net/cata...sort=3d&page=3 Uli |

I love the subject matter and your work is amazing. I look forward to more progress on this great project. Can't wait to see how the rims turn out.

Re: Yamaha Trial TY125 1:8
Hello ,
the wheel looks very good, but I guess there are at least two spokes missing. The tires are always a problem in Heller kits. I noticed some shrinking and cracking up on some older car models. Uli |
