Mazda 787B orange

Hi all,

I've recently purchased a Tamiya Mazda 787B #24112 and have managed to secure some Tamiya x-28 Park Green acrylic paint as I intend to airbrush the green areas.

The instructions call for TS-31 Bright Orange for the second colour tone and considering Tamiya spray cans have been off the shelf for a few years now, I was wondering if anyone could offer some suggestions for a good alternative (or possibly the paint codes for that colour so I can order off Hiroboy).

Do you think Tamiya x-6 Orange acrylic would be 'vibrant' enough if I were to use that instead?

I welcome all your suggestions

Re: Mazda 787B orange

The color is a flourescent orange. The X-6 isn't going to be close. Hiroboy does make a flourescent orange but I don't know how close it is to the color used on the Mazda. You might try MR Color if you can get that. I bought a bottle of thier flourescent orange for the tail piece of the Fujimi GSXR I'm working on. It is similar to the Tamiya TS-31.

It looks like Tamiya sprays are available again in the UK. Hiroboy has a poll on his site asking if he should start carrying them. You might see if he can order you what you need.

Re: Mazda 787B orange

I'm sure Steve mixed this color before, just email him and see if he could mix the color for you.

Re: Mazda 787B orange

Thanks for your help guys. I'll try and contact Steve to see if he remembers how to mix that colour. His fluorescent orange looks quite good for the hue I'm after, considering in many of the research photos I have, the orange varied and sometimes appeared to have hints of red.
