Lightbulb I have an IDEA!!!

I have an idea about how to setup a turbo that may very well change the entire turbo design and could put superchargers out of the picture almost completely.

Think about this!!!

- No lag while wating for the Turbo to spool.
- Also you'd be able to turn the Turbo on when ever u want the extra horsepower or u can leave it off if you need your car to be more gas efficent.

And no I'm not talking about an Electric Turbo.

The only thing is I need to get my idea designed and patend.

Maybe I can tell u about the design later after I have it patend and sold to a major company.

TURBONETICS, Greddy, HKS here I come.

P.S.
I know u proably think I'm crazy but hey we'll see.

How are you going to accomplish no lag?
I can see the thing about only using it when you want to.

I've just wrote up a summary.

I just wrote up a summary and now all I have to do is find a way of patenting it.

I think it's a great idea. "Idea" being the key word. It would be no fun if your "idea" went through-because that would be a perfect turbo-and then there probably wouldn't be anything to complain about! I hope you go through w/ it and keep us in mind if you do! I'm always up for trying new stuff!

Being able to switch it on and off seems like a fairly reasonable idea. I don't mean to shit in your cereal or whatever, but I can almost guarentee you that the idea has been considered before by engineers and I am sure there is a reason that they did not pursue it. Maybe because if you want to save gas, then DON'T BOOST. You can easily drive around town without boosting, just don't go around slamming down the gas all the time. And as for the turbo lag, Ace is right in saying that they have been in use on some racecars. However Garrett just released their new model that boasts vitually no lag, check out this months edition of Turbo Magazine. It is the GT40Rand can support up to 700 hp. Be mad a Garrett, not me.

It has already been achieved.....
There are several teams in motorsports that have achieved a zero-lag turbo......

F1 cars don't use turbos.
Many of the WRC teams use a lagless turbo though.....

well the wrc turbo is not lagless per se but the misfire system they use virtually eliminates lag....along with destroying your turbo though

the only lag less turbo that i know of is the garret one with the built in electrical engine that keeps it spooled up

I admit it isn't lagless per se, but I wouldn't call it a misfire system either....they inject unburnt fuel directly into the exhaust to keep the turbo spooling at a high speed throughout the complete rev range.
