broken starter shell three time in 6 months

i have been through three starters in 6 months some broken teeth some broken shell well this last time driving down the highway the car started acting funny oil light came on the dash lights went off and on so pulled over shut the car off and then could not crank over again so i went and changed the battery alt,and again the starter because the shell or end was broke off laying under fly wheel after all the changes the starter wont turn the fly wheel so i tried to turn the fly wheel but it only moves a 1/4 way back and forth so now i dont know where to look next anyone have suggestions is is there different was to troubleshoot the problem and find out why the flywheel barely turns and it keeps breaking my starters and now cant start at all?

1st id look for a piece of broken starter jamming up against flywheel
are you sure starter is aligned, possably needing shims
what year is intrique??what brand are the new starters??

1998 and napa alternators i looked and didnt see anything tried to turn it by the hermonic balancer it would turn about a quarter turn each way

What motor? Recently installed? Any vibrations at idle or at speed? Sounds like misaligned engine and transmission, or starter engages while the engine is running.

How are you trying to turn the "flywheel"? (This vehicle uses a flex plate.)



Not to mention the obscene gesture. Sheesh. At least it was short compared to some other guy on this board.
