Bullet shot into van compartment
Ok this is my first post and it is an odd one. Long story short I shot a .38special FMJ bullet into the van. It entered 6inches below the steering wheel and I know it went through the metal frame behind the covering below the steering wheel. I cant see where it went from there. No wires or anything else is penetrated as I can see. No fluids are leaking. It steers, shifts and I dont smell any fluid smells. I cant find any detailed schematics to tell me what parts are in the area the bullet traveled. What should I do? I dont want to cause anymore damage.

If everything is working OK you may want to leave well enough alone.

Don't want to cause anymore damage? Get rid of the gun.

Re: Bullet shot into van compartment
If you can find the slug and the copper is still intact, it might not have done any real damage beyond the cosmetic. If it hit the lower bolster and penetrated there may be damage to the wiring in the steering column. If that was the path it may be worthwhile to pull the lower bolster and take a look.
That happens around here periodically and the rifle/shotgun deer season is coming soon. The damage can get pretty costly.
