Air conditioner problems on 97 Grand Am

Hi, The air is not cold coming from the vents with the A/C on. Also there is a noise coming from the compressor. Where do I start with this lovely problem? Thanks for any help.

That is bad news, you probably have a leak.

The noise is probably the clutch engaging and disengaging.

You can confirm it by looking at the pulley while it work, you will see the center turning and stopping.

The clutch stays engaged, I checked that yesterday. I just checked it, this time the compressor sounded fine but the air from the vent still is not cold.
