Just recently the blower in my 2005 Impala has stopped working.
I have checked the HTR Blower fuse and the HVAC Blower fuses. They are fine. Will not run even on high speed. Is there a relay thats accessible , that can be checked? I have read threads on this problem that suggest the BCM is bad, the ignition switch is bad, relay is bad. I want to spend little money on this car. The mileage is climbing high and is starting to dime me to death. But I need the blower as the A/C is still being used. I smacked the dash today with my palm, and the blower started. Go figure. Could it also be the climate controls? Gotta be a pain to get it out of the car I bet. Any suggestive help is appreciated.! John |

Re: 2005 Impala Intermittant blower.
Check my thread on a very similar issue. Turned out to be an ignition switch that had to be replaced.

The ign sw. only affected the blower circuit?

Re: 2005 Impala Intermittant blower.
In my case the first thing I replaced was the resistor pack but it didn't fix it. Later we saw that the overhead display and cruise control didn't work while the blower wasn't working, but not sure if it was like that from the beginning or started later on.

The more I think about it that might be the problem with the relay, resistor pack.
I doubt if its the BCM, cause nothing would work in that car not even the ignition. Its dark now but will check the assembly tomorrow. Can the relay assemble be cleaned with contact cleaner? It was not working today until I smacked the dash with the heel of my right hand. Maybe the vibration is jiggling the relay. Is that relay hard to get to? To the writer with the bad ignition switch.....I just replaced it myself and did a BCM reprogram. Least it now runs. Thanks all for your expertise! ![]() John |

Re: 2005 Impala Intermittant blower.
It is a sealed module.

Today the blower worked fine. I think that its in the control cluster for the HVAC and vents. Anyone know if I should buy new or is Used OK?

Update on the blower. The brushes in the motor are losing contact. Tap the motor and it runs full power.
Am replacing the motor for 20.00 used. John
