AC blower slow to come on 2000 impala

The blower on my 2000 impala is starting to not come on when the car is started. Sometimes it takes 5-20 seconds to start blowing, just enough time to wonder if is is the time that it don't start.

I looked around some and found that the blower resistor is a common fix so I replaced that but nothing changed. Sometimes it works fine, other times it doesn't start even while moving the switch to different speeds.

Blower motor, switch, or other? I can replace the blower if it sounds reasonable at it may be the issue.

Re: AC blower slow to come on 2000 impala

We noticed that the lights on the buttons below the blower switch that selects between external air or re-circulation sometimes blinks rapidly between the two, as well as the display on the roof that shows temperature, MHG, etc doesn't come on until the blower starts working.

Does that sound like a BCM issue? Is that something I can replace myself or do I need a dealership to program it?

Re: AC blower slow to come on 2000 impala

No feedback from anyone? I think it is going to be a BCM issue, but since I already spent time and effort on the resistor that didn't fix it, I would like some validation that the BCM is a possible culprit so I'm not wasting money.

Re: AC blower slow to come on 2000 impala

I am no help here, but my 02 does the same thing. It shuts off sometimes after its on, and then randomly comes back on. I have a host of other issues with this car too. Now that I have read your post maybe it really is time to just get a new car.

1- extended crank time (have replaced battery X 2) replaced fuel filter, plugs, wires, had a general tune up, had a diagnostic done X 2 with no codes, the alternator and starter checked out fine, no fuel pressure issues, and the fuel pressure regulator is ok. Replaced cat converter. Still no resolution to this problem.
2- The display intermittenly scrambles
3- I am getting 11 mpgs
4- Rear passenger door light was stuck on permanently
5- Cruise control shuts off on its own
6- ABS light comes on and off (seems to have stopped since replacing wheel speed sensors)

I am really tired off all the issues. Plus I was informed its time for new shocks all around.

If you get a solution let me know! I am still awaiting an answer to mine too!

Re: AC blower slow to come on 2000 impala

Ended up taking the car to the dealership to find out what is going on. It was a bad ignition switch. They replaced it the next day and now everything is fine. $525 after tax including diagnosis.
