Need some help...I want to sent my son some tools to change out this Serpentine belts and his 99 Z28/LS1. Any special tools needed. I know there are two belts and two tensioners.

He in in college at UNLV..no mechanic, but he can follow instructions and diagrams. I have changed them before..not that hard....

Re: Replace Serpentine Belts 99Z/LS1

OK...I found a great description and diagram on AutoZone web site. But it does not say what size the head of the tensioners are ??? 15mm, 16mm or ?? both Main belt and A/C belt maybe the same size.

Anyone know ?????

Cheers Mate....

Not overly sure on a '99, but quite a few tensionsers have a location to use a 3/8" ratchet to lift them.

Re: Replace Serpentine Belts 99Z/LS1

Your are correct may do...but in this case on the 99Z...it used the head of the hold the holds the tensioner pulley....I am 99% sure of that...Maybe someone else can confirm that... thanks for the reply Mate !!!!
I keep looking on line also....

...the man down under !!! Cheers Mate !!!

No prob. I want to say it's a 17 or 7/8" to grab it by the tensioner pulley bolt then. It's been a while. For a while, GM was kind enough to make sure the tire lug nut wrench could be used for this.
