Resin VW aircooled engines?

Does anyone make resin copies of VW aircooled engines/trans? 1200 or 1600 or in fact anything....

Negative, theres only limited vw engines. Revell mk2,esci/amt rabbit mk1, tamiya beetle and a few others. Fujimi mk3 golf has a one solid piece engine 2.0 and vr6.

Re: Resin VW aircooled engines?

I have no idea which engine, or how accurate it is, but the 1:24ish Bburago diecast Beetle Cup kit has a crude engine block. It looks good for a starting point. I'll get some pics up later

Re: Resin VW aircooled engines?

The Revel Gran Turismo kit (1:25) comes with two choices of engine, one of whihc I believe is a VW 1200cc engine.
Not sure how complete or accurate it is though.

How different were the VW 1200/1600 engines (underneath the Porsche shrouding) compared to the ones in the Porsche 356 cars because there's also the Fujimi Enthusiasts Porche 356 kits to scavange from for a 1:24 if they're similar enough.

Re: Resin VW aircooled engines?

Revell/Monogram air cooled kits, most of them had motors and trans, though they aren't THAT great, they do build a convincing motor with the right amount of detail.

Tamiya Karmann Ghia and I believe it's a 66 beetle both have great engine details.

Tamiya makes the nicest Vw aircooled engine of all the kits I have or have ever seen.

Re: Resin VW aircooled engines?

I've got a Tamiya KG, but didn't want to cannibalise it for this project. Hmmm. Time to give resin casting a go?

Re: Resin VW aircooled engines?

oops

completely forgot about the Tamiya VWs.

Anyway.
If all you're after is another engine, it is probably going to be quicker and cheaper to just go source a new kit.
The idea of casting your own parts is nice but sometimes, all it does is put off the actual model building process.

Re: Resin VW aircooled engines?

The new reissued revell bus also has an engine.
