I recently had my Coolant Temp Fan light come on my 85 Sedan De Ville, (it did not stay on). I checked the coolant levels, they are fine. I let the car run to see if the fans come on, they do. When I shut the car off, the coolant bubbled a bit and the level rose in the overflow tank, but not a lot. My other question was the service engine soon light flickered on the same day. i recently picked this car up, it seems to run great, Very low miles (64k), in great shape also. Anybody have any suggestions on what I can look for or do next? Change the coolant out? Put in a toggle switch for the fans? I'm not a mechanic, just trying to keep my means of transportation on the road without paying mechanic bills. If you want to email me if you don't mind at : [email protected]. or just reply here and I will check back!
Thanks!

Re: 85 Sedan De Ville question
Welcome to AF. Many things can cause this, bad thermostat, bad radiator cap, partially clogged radiator, keep in mind the HT4100 was a troublesome engine from day one. Assume you mean coolant temp lite there is no fan lite as you stated. There is a way to do self diagnostcs thru the ac control head to see if there are any codes. 25year old car here, was the coolant ever flushed, any service records?
